Per the Symantec NetBackup_AdminGuide_SnapshotClient.pdf guide there are sections on configuring Flash Backup policies for Windows. Yet as far as I can see it doesn't mention anywhere the need for the client to be running the NBU service with an account that has local admin rights.
Our testing has shown that just using the system account will not allow Flash Backups to work, and some of the troubleshooting docs cover the restore portion, which also requires local admin otherwise you see errors like this:
WRN - can't lock raw device for write: \\.\D: (WIN32 5: Access is denied.
Does anyone know of any official Symantec documentation that clarifies this? I know that when you set up a Windows Flash Backup policy you get a pop up to the effect of requiring local admin running on the client, but I can't seem to find anything in any of the admin guides that back up this claim - and we keep running into roadblocks with server admins that are reluctant to run NBU with anything other than the system account.
