NB7601 on Solaris using many features most notably LTO4.
I have a desire to eliminate a lot of the work around using tape. Currently we use no disk and I'd like to remove tape and associated manpower , overheads, licensing.
One stumbling block is as follows: the daily tape backups are moved offsite: the backups and the data are thus separated. Is there a way of doing the same with disk eg via replication/dedup ?Cheaply! I have Gbit networking to many remote places ie remote from where my master server lives but the data are too large (several Tb/day) to realistically put these data directly over the network , raw. These backups would only be used for recovery.
Simplistically I need to take my overnight data backups (incremental, I am planning on retaining my weekly full backups direct to tape) and relocate them on disk away from my primary site.
Thanks in advance, Jim
