bplist running in bpend script not finding files

In 7.5.0.6 my bpend notify script runs bplist to verify files were backed up successfully. However, immediately after the job finishes, only some files are being reported. Running bplist later works fine. Is there a delay between job completion and catalog update?  It was my impression that the bpend script runs after catalog udpate?
