Backup question

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

If a client  we were to take an existing server being backed up by Symantec (i.e. sysmemrexa1-p.mycompany.com)…  and  they  shut it down, rename it (and change IP address), assign a new  “backup ip”  that was given to them by the netbackup admin group  and started it back up…,

for example

Old Name/IP: sysmemrexa1-p.mycompany.com/ 181.52.16.341

New Name/IP/:  vamsupapp509-c.mycompany.com / 11.190.5.45 / 11.336.9.65

If we needed a restore from the “old” backup policy name/client the following should work correct?

Activate the old backup policy that was using the previous name for backup

Edit the hosts file (on the master) server enter the new Ip address next to the old backup policy client name and perform the restore?

I realize this may be a simple thing to do however I am just making sure.

Thanks
