I know there is san media server and san client feature avialable.
For san client linux media server is required. What if my media server in on windows. Then I think I would not be able to use san client.
But is there any way for windows media server for san backup of client leaving san media server option.

I saw several posts from years ago regarding the problem I have but they did not help me find the solution.
In an nutshell: Netbackup 7.5 Master server is on Windows 2008 server and three other Madeia servers are also running on Windows 2008 server. Four LTO4 tape drives in HP MLS6000 tape library are attached to two of the Media servers, two drives per each of the two media server.
I am trying to duplicate tapes with barcode ending on L1 to tapes with barcore ending on L4 and everything looks good and normal in setup but wken I kick off duplication job, it remains wueued for ever not doing eanything, displaying the following message in a detailed report in Activity monitor:

Could some help me resolving this issue -
SQl database backup failing with stutus below -
(2) none of the requested files were backed up.
I have attached the detailed status of the job.
I confirm that few files are being backed up under system state as system files as per below tech note.

Dear All,
I am working on a cluster configuration for netbackup services running in two different sites (global/metro cluster).
1) The issue i am facing is that each site has different ip address segment, for example, when the master active node is running on site 1 the master ip address is 1.0.0.1 furthermore when the active node change to second site the ip address is 2.0.0.1
So to identify the active ip addres for the virtual name we are using the VCS Agent for DNS in order to update the right IP on the DNS server.
Because the clients looks for the ip address from the DNS, they can communicate via ping but when we run bpclntcmd -hn master_server it returns the old ip address ( ip address from passive node that was umplumbed ), so I run the bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache; after that netbackup services run well
Based on the enviroment my question is, are there any option to disable the netbackup host cache in order to resolve the correct ip address?
2) When i run the switchover the media server that was active configured appear as offline mediaserver,
Does any body know if the issue is regarding to the host cache?

I am getting the below error while starting Netbackup client services.
The NetBackup Client Service service failed to start due to the following error:

We procured VNB Capacity based license & recieved single license key for it.
I have 3 servers ( 1 Master + Media ) and 2 DB servers.
I want to take DB server backup over SAN.
As per my limited understanidng , i have to share Tape drives with 2 DB servers & install them as SAN media Server.
I believe during installation of SAN media server , it will ask for License key.
But how to install SAN Media license as i didnt get any another license key ?
SHould i use same capacity based license key for installation of Medai server. It would be complaint with licensing ?

Can anyone please resolve my querry.
We got 30 drive up events on one of the drive in ABC media server.
I have checked the drive status from Netbackup end
drive is UP and verified at OS level by tpautoconf -t.
and checked the rmt it there in both ends.
i have verified the logs var/adm/messages
its showing STATUS_LIBRARY_FAILURE
Robotic mount failure alerts.
then i tried to down the drive but is comming UP frequently once i down that purticular drive..
again when i have checked the drive status it is showing drive is UP and loaded with media.
then i logged into SL console and dismounted the drive, media got dismounted and drive is avilable.
once again i check the status that purticular drive is again loaded with another media.
Can you please help me out in resolving the issue as soon as possible .
In our oeganisation, we have installed a new master server version 7.6. it installed well and we had configured the storage deavices and also created policy.
It was working well but all of a sudden am getting this NMEBB error (77). Tried restarting servive but got an error message "The NBEMM service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs"
I tried stopping netbackup and start again. No change.
Doing my R&D but if any one has any suggestion please advice.
