Is there anyone out there in the community that has developed ANY scripted solution that can manage EMC VMAX snapshots on fiber/block storage?
This does not have to be granular, but at least coordinate snaps and be able to take a backup of the snap.

Netbackup env. 7.6 (One Netbackup domain)
Master server runs as a VM and gets backed up daily incremental and weekly full via VMWare type policy.
4 Media servers all physical
What is the best option to protect against the loss of the master server and recover it as quickly as possible? (eg: if it gets corrupted and cant be powered on)?
Notes:If the master server gets replicated at the storage or VMWare layer to another site, it could mean that the curruption would also get replicated.
Thoughts?

We are running NetBackup 7.0 on windows 2008 Box, issue is i'm not able to Launch the Console(NetBackup Relational Database Manager/NetBackup Resource Broker -- NOT STARTED/NetBackup Enterprise Media Manager -- NOT STARTED), and seems NBDB is not alive, and i have restarted the server also, and did free space on Installation path also, still the same issue, could any one help me on this.

I have single domain master server fro Head Office and DR site , there is two Vcenter one for each site , we have configure backup policy by VM Display Name to salect the client name ,
Question is that there is two VM client with same display name one in HO vcenter second one in DR Vcenter being backup . Today ,i noticed that
Now i want to know how restore will work ???
Can we identify which host was backed up from which Vcenter ???
How will come to know that we are restoring vm clinet belongs to which Vcenter ??

Our VM backups are failing with 48 error code.Backups are done via Vmhost. Few days back Vcenter was down. It was up then backup started.
There is one more issue netbackup is not deleting snapshot files on datastore.
Master server 7.5 in windows 2008. VMhost in another system.
1:- Why netbackup is not able to delete the snapshots from datastore? How to delete it? In policy we have seleted orphaned snapshot handling as remove netbackup.
2:- Can we have more than one VMHOST? what will be the impact if i add one more any advantage?
3:- Is it happening (48 Error) due to some services that need to be started on VMHOST?

Current Environment: NBU 7.6.0.2 running on windows 2008 R2 SP1 master server.
While accessing NBU BAR window, the master server got rebooted unexpectedly.
Anybody has come across this scenario ?

After yet another sucessful 7.6 upgrade I noticed the following at a customer site. It seems that between 7.5.0.6 and 7.6.0.2, VMware VIP queries are now case sensitive, i.e. if you had a fairly simple query like:
vmware:/?filter=Displayname AnyOf "serverx"
on 7.5.0.x it will include "serverx", "SERVERX" and even "ServerX" (when it actually saves the backup in the image database, it uses the "correct" case as used in VMware.
It seems this changed in 7.6.0.2, now the case must match 100% for the VM(s) to be included. So be aware if you are using this in your environment, I often see a horrible mixture of case in customer VMware environments :-)
I have just tested this behaviour on both Windows/Linux and vSphere 5.1 and 5.5 environments. Obviosly I have not tested all combinations of the query with this, but it seems to be the case with several fields in the query (display name, data store name etc).
I don´t recall having seen this change mentioned anywhere. Not sure if its a bug or per design, but VM Documentation in 7.6 (it wasn´t there in 7.5) does state:
NetBackup does not recognize upper vs. lower case in display names
In VMware vSphere, virtual machine display names are case-sensitive. A virtual machine with the name "vm1" is a different virtual machine from one that is named "VM1." NetBackup however does not recognize case when it selects virtual machines for backup. It considers VM1 and vm1 to be the same virtual machine.
To ensure that all VMs are correctly backed up, avoid the use of VM names that are differentiated only by upper vs. lower case.

We have catalog backup going fine going to the tape on our 7.5.0.4 master server. In order to have a simultaneous copy, we have created an nfs share on our Data Domain and mounted in one of the media servers. Created a disk storage unit on that media server and added the enabled the multiple copy option for Catalog backup.
While running the backup it fails with error 800,
- Error nbjm(pid=5901) NBU status: 800, EMM status: Media server mismatch
resource request failed(800)
My question is, do we need to have the disk storage unit created on the master server itself ?

On a BMR P2V Virtual Conversion, is the non-OS data restored during the conversion or after the server is booted up. We are successfully doing a conversion, but only c: drive is restored( missing d: ).

I have been getting error 129 on some of my backups. it looks like I have a PureDisk disk pool that has reached it's high water mark. As the Disk Pool is a lun from a NetApp, I asked the SAN admin to give me some more space. After getting more space I got the Solaris 10 media sever to see it with this comand.
zpool set autoexpand=on bupool
Any way Netbackup still sees the volume at it's old size. How do I get NetBackup see the new space?
Also if I needed to do more stuff on the Solaris side let me know.

We are seeing a issue with the SQL Server Object Restoration, it doesnt show me a latest available backup for restore under EVBA Configuration.
I see the backups successfull in catalog database but the same isn't available in the SQL Server Objects
I'm participating in a POC that has me taking backups from a physical Linux Enterprise Client and restoring them to a newly built Linux VM. Other than having the Netbackup Linux client SW installed and recreating the required storage, are there any "issues" that I need to be aware of.............?
I believe the files should restore as any other standard client restore via the GUI and being handled by the associated master/media.
Am I missing anything that would prevent the restores from taking place? At this time I am not worried about speed, just recoverability.

I have a media server that has changed from "Active for Tape and Disk" to simply "Active for Disk". Jobs that get scheduled for it stall on "waiting for media" (even if the media is disk).
A reboot of the media server didn't magically clear anything up. I have seen something similar before where the media server has some media assigned to it in the EMM, even though the media is no longer there.
Has anyone seen this condition before and have a suggestion? I am unable to find my notes on how I was able to query the EMM to find what volumes were assigned to this server so that I can cancel the assignment.
NBU is 7.5.0.6.

Having two queries
1. My FTP(VM) server, whose backup is running through netbackup client(not through Netbackup VM).Now I started backup with mutilple streaming for all drives i.e. C,D,E,F, Backup of F drive (child stream) is failed with 156 (snapshot error encountered) and I restarted that job and then its completed but at last parent job failed with 156 error, In BAR, backup of all drives is available. Now can anyone please let me know wheteher this backup can be considered as successful?
2. One RMAN backup whose parent job failed with 6 error code due to mount point inconsistency (I/O error), but some of its child job completed and wrote data to media. This backup is of no use. As per my knowledge, completed child jobs data should be expired automatically if its parent job failed, but Now as per client backup report on master server, its showing completed child jobs.

I tried to restored the MSSQL database backup on the same client. but it failed with errors.
ERR - Error in GetCommand: 0x80770004.
CONTINUATION: - An abort request is preventing anything except termination actions.
INF - OPERATION #1 of batch C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\DbExt\MsSql\restore_today.bch FAILED with STATUS 1 (0 is normal). Elapsed time = 12(12) seconds.

also when i checked the windows application log, some error occured related to SQL as below.

Storage pool shows UP in the GUI, but DOWN at the command line in Linux on the master.
