i need your help please, i have a Master server on Windows 2008 R2, version 7.5..0.5. this morning, nothing is going well, Netbackup services are on automatic mode, but some of them are stopped :

Exchange DAG 2010 transactional logs truncation not working.

 

Firstly,Is instant recovery backup same as full backups for Exchange DAG.I need a clarification on Instant Recovey Backup.

Attached is my configuration from the Exchange clients DAG members group for trncation of transactional logs.

Is there anything I am missing please.

DBBACKEX failing

Running Netbackup 7.5 client on Windows 2008 Server and SQL Server 2008 Standard edition install.

Attempting to run a backup using DBBACKEX and it is failing.

Here is what I am running from the command line:

dbbackex -f Myscript.bch  -s myServer -p myPolicy -u sa -pw mypassword

and I am getting this error:

USE SYNTAX: ddbackex -f <file> [-p <policy>][-s server][-d <ODBC DSN>][-u <userid>][-pw <password>][-np]

Hi Marianne

I need a help.Yesterday we have restarted our exange server .After that backup not happened .We have DAG and Active copy backup is configured.

 

When I try to connect the client in Host properties .I am getting error (25) cannot connect on socket.I am able to telnet the client from Master & vise verrsa.

I'm testing a VMware policy with "SQL Server Recovery" enabled, but the job is failing with status error 198 (no active policies contain schedules of the requested type for this client).

I believe it's looking for an "Automatic Backup" schedule, but the VMware policy with "SQL Server Recovery" enabled does not show this as an option when I try to create a new schedule.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi

I am using Netbackup with TeradataBAR Solution.

we use Netbackup for schedules and catalogue management

Netbackup will trigger Teradata BAR script from netbackup Policy, we have a requirement 

Before backup initiation and after backup completion we wanted to run some pre and post scripts which will release locks for tera data tables.

can some suggest how can i implement these pre and post scripts...which helps me a lot....

I need a solution

Hi Folks

i have 4 tape drives and monthly backups duplicated copies are scheduled to tapes. The duplication jobs are running slow as they duplicating from msdp dedupe pool. So all 4 tape drives would be busy with duplication jobs in last week of the month. Due to this my catalog backups are queued up which is also scheduled to tape.

The catalog bkp priority is maximum but even though it is in queue state for 3-4 days.

Can any one help me to overcome this situation.

This week we are doing some tests with microsoft regarding Backup & Restore  of Microsoft Clustered environment.

 

I installed netbackup 7.6.0.1 Client on the servers (with windows cluster 2008)

And we see that during the backup the CLUSDB file is being skipped.

Question is : 

Why its in the Exclude list of the cluster vss, How should I do a GOOD backup of microsoft cluster if netbackup dosent do a backup of this file.

 

BTW: ntbackup of microsoft is able to backup clusdb file.

通过NBU6.5.2A, 磁带机读写都很慢

用HP自带工具测试读写, 速度都很正常, 使用NBU写一个单独文件3.5GB, 花了5个小时, 任务执行时, 写了一点数据就停在那里, 带库显示driver idle, 写写停停

也尝试了重新加载硬件, 没有效果.

6.5.2官方没有支持了, 需要论坛大神们相助, 先谢过了.

Very slow restore with flashbackup image

My customer envirnment is

 

Netbackup Version : 7.5.0.6

Master Server OS : Solaris 10

 

However if they would restore with flashbackup, slow or failed.

So I saw bprd log that 1GB is handling during 1 hour

Did you see this situation?

Exchange 2007 Vmware backup

I need a solution

I have a primary site with NBU 7.5 and backing up exchange 2007. I am building anothe site with NBU 7.5 and exchange 2007. This exchange will reside inside a VM and i will be backing up exchange using the intelligent policy option. 

If I need to restore the exchange on primary site then apart from running the 2 phase import are there any other requirements.

VM backup policy run 5 times at night without schedule it

Hello we are running Netbackup 7.6.0.2 on window server 2008 SP1 R2.

We have a policy from type VMware, that run full backup to an auto select vm clients 1 day at the weekend every month.

All the backups were good and in time untill we upgrade our evironment from 7.5.0.6 to 7.6.0.2.

As a result of this, the next weekend after the upgrade every vm client backuped 5 times, backup after backup in spite of the fact that this weekend it sould not be backuped.

 

Please help me why it happened, and how I can prevent it in the future.

Add volume to exisiting Advanced Disk Pool

Symantec NBU v.7.5.0.6.  Master server on Windows 2003 Std, media server with disk pool on Linux. Advanced Disk Pool consist of two disk with Volume name:

backup/sdc     raw size  916 GB

backup/sdb     raw size 916 GB

Total raw size  - 1.79 TB

I add  new disk 1 TB  and see in Linux directory backup  (with subdir  'sdc' and 'sdd') new  dir   'sdb'   but on Master server - NO.

Can I increase  DISK POOL with additional new disk  volume 'sdb'  ?

Or I must recreate DISK POOL ?

Data storing issue on Tapes

Hi All,

We are using NetBackup 7.0.1 and Dell TL4000 Tape Library for Backup's. Here the problem is our Tapes are showing the status full only after writing around 1.45 to 1.5 TB in LTO5 Tapes(according to vendor Native 1.5/compressed mode 3TB), and also LT)4 is showing full after writing only 788GB. do i need to enable compression option in policy in NetBackup(dont think so), could any one help me on this to increase the data storing capacity on Tapes.

How to perform an authorative restore of system state of servers in MS cluster 2008

As a part of a test we try to backup and restore system state of servers that in part of a ms windows 2008 cluster.

Unfortunately, the restore didn't work for us because we need to perform an authorative restore.

Someone got an idea how I can perform and authorative restore to system state in netbackup?

Spoold.exe continuously hangs

Hello all,

I am running NetBackup 7.5 using a clustered master and 3 media servers. One media server has a MSDP dedup volume that was running perfectly until last week. Spoold.exe continues to hang and holds all available memory resources. All backups on that volume get error status 84.

Critical bptm(pid=8072) image open failed: error 2060001: one or more invalid arguments Info bpbkar32(pid=23412) change journal NOT enabled for <E:\ProgramFiles\HP\ConnectlT9.30en>

Info bptm(pid=8072) EXITING with status 84

We are running on a Windows Server 2008R2 OS.

Any ideas?

Not Able to Expire the Tapes

Hi All,

We are running NBU on 7.0 on Win2k8 machine, we had some set of tapes which are used April 2014, and now when i try to reuse them its shoing some data, and when  i try to expire the Tapes its showing an error like ""requested media id is not assigned to this host in the EMM database" is received.", could any one help me on this.
