and then, i do Device Configuration.
however, Master Server Drive path ditch is Media Server Drive Path different from each other.
but Serial Number is same
there is a problem in the SAN backup?

I am not receiving the catalog backup disaster recovery e-mail attachment.
It quit working when we took down the old exchange server. So I removed the old exchange server from policies & hosts file and added the new one. New policies work, verified DNS resolution etc.
I went into BLAT, changed the settings to point to the new exch server with the -install switch: blat -install ex05.addr.com nbusvc@addr.com
I tested sending e-mails from the command line and it worked fine, the message and attachment came through OK: blat c:\test.txt -s test -to mako626@addr.com
My catalog backup runs and it is still placing the file in the desired location, but the e-mail will not come through.
Also checked Junk mail, deleted mail etc.

We are required to run a very large restore (~12TB) of a SAP database. The backup image is stored on a Data Doamin storage server. We would like to force the restore to use a specific media server that is not the server used for the oirignal backup.
The storage server has 6 DD Boost enabled media servers accessing it for both backups and duplications between data centers.
Each time we initiate the restore a different media server is used. We have used the "media host override" settings but these do not seem to be honored for OST storgae servers according to this artilce -

Hi All,
I have one master server which is configured with DD Boost, in that few of the VM backups failing with error code 156, i checked vss writers status on server seems all writers are stable.
Master server OS & NBUversion: HP UX & 7.5.0.6
Client OS & NBU version: Windows 2008 R2 & 7.5.0.4
I found some error in event logs on server as below, kindly suggest what else need to check to fix issue.

I have came accross a strange situation, where I need to exclude some files/directories during the Solaris client BMR using Netbackup.
For example /var/spool/clientmqueue/. As this is taking lot of time to restore because there as enormous number of files in this directory.
For us last time when we restored it took 18hrs. I wanted to exclude these files this time when I restore the server. Help much appreciated.

I see under catalog search parent job is not listed for old SQL backup. this can create any hurdle in restore?

i have upgrade my master server to 7.6.0.3 and now upgrading my Windows and Solaris clients.
after some searching i finally found the link for the Windows client upgrade from 7.5.0.5 to 7.6.0.1 as well as to 7.6.0.3 version.
however, i am having difficulties finding the client upgrade for Solaris SPARC from 7.5.0.5 to 7.6.0.1. i found for 7.6.0.3 client and server upgrade http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH217819 (which contains links for Windows and UNIX) but i am unable to find the 7.6.0.1 link for the client and server upgrade.

I am planning to migrate an old 7.5.0.7 master server to a new physical server. The old master server is configured with OST plugin to EMC data domain appliance. I have the most recent catalog backups respectively in both tape and OST disk. If I fully recover the catalog through tape as primary copy, can the full catalog recovery restore the configuration settings of disk storage server, disk pools. Or do I need to manually configure the storage server and disk pool after full catalog recovered? Thanks!

I am currently facing issue to backup a big data on Symantec NetBackup Appliance 5220 more than 14 TB with accelarator feature in one stream.
Environment:
Master: Enterprise 2008 R2 64 bit
Media: NetBackup 5220 (MSDP)

Hi Experts,
Need your inputs here. I have a master server Nbu 7.6 in windows, appliance 5230 as media server and mixture of clients. All in same vlan. Now we have a bunch of other servers which is there in other network(vlan) and configured these servers(all have dedicated bkp nic) in backup infra. But the throughput we are getting is 10-12MB/s. So to overcome this, we are planing to have a dedicated network for backup and have a diretc connection from appliance to the switch where all these clients are connected. so the data will transfer directly from these servers to appliance which will improve the backup speed.
Plan is below
Clients are in different vlan than the current backup infra.
We have 4 10G Ethernet ports in appliance which is not using at present. Going to assign two ports from this and bond it then assign same vlan ip as clients have and directly connect to the switch where clients are connected.
But my doubt is, if we are doing in this way. do i need to assigne and configure my backup server also with one more nic with same vlan(clients vlan) ? Or it will communicate the media server with same existing vlan when these clients backedup ? Nbu ports are already open with current backup server vlan IP and client vlan IPs
Hi, I've got a strange issue on AIX media servers after upgrade to 7.6. Filesystem /usr gets full because of inodes not released properly (some files are not deleted properly). Have you experienced similar issues ?

I am configuring a new backup policy , policy type : Sybase .
I copied the script from the existing server who's backups are running well and amended it to use on the new server and added the path into the policy.
But it is failing with error code 6.
Error found in sybase_stdout :

when using multiple cleaning tapes they will be automatically selected by NetBackup in alternating order (e.g. CLN001 - CLN002 - CLN001 - etc.) upon request. Therefore, the usage count will increase equally and all the tapes will have no cleaning cycles left at nearly the same time.
So, leaving the system unattended for a couple of days might cause a tape drive going down due to unsatisfied cleaning requests. How to avoid that - is there a setting which forces NetBackup to use one cleaning tape first, till it has no cycles left, and then the next one (i.e. one after another)?
