How to replicate backup images to DR manaully as replication job has been cancelled

I need a solution

In our backup environment, we are using AIR to replicate the backup images from primary master server to DR backup master through SLP. i would like to mention that DR master server also backing up few servers of that Location.

Few days back due to some issue, we had to recycle the primary backup master server due to which all replication jobs on primary master server has been cancelled.

Now i got restore request on DR servers that needs to be initiated from DR master server but the sourse server is backing up though primary site. I checked that we have the backup data on primary site but that was not replicated to DR due to master server recycle.

How can i identify the backup images of perticular server which did not replicated to DR on that perticular date on which we recycled the master server and how we can push that backup images to DR master server manually.

tape selection for backup at diff inc. backup

I need a solution

Dear All,

I have label my tapes as standalone to my tape drive.
I have set the backups for diff inc , cum and full backup for two policies.
My problem is when I set a second diff inc backup in policy with retension 1 year to use the same tape on saturday diff inc and sunday full backup without changing tape (because same retension needed without tape change), The backup did not start becacuse according to logs it wanted a different tape. Can I solve this issue if I just set retension period to 8 =1 year on that tapes and on other tapes of weekday daily backups to 1 week. Shall it knows what tape to select? If I put in a tape for monday backup will it use or want a possible different tape to continue to use. I emphasise I do not use robot. Is there a startegy how to avoid tape reasource problem?

I hope I was clear.

thanks

Karoly

I need a solution

Hi All

We have purchased a Netapp E series SAn EX2724,this can be managed only through SANtricity Stirage Manager Client.

I need to know How I can configure Netbackup software v 7 to backup the LUN that is provided by the above NetappSAN to following operating system, Solaris, VMWARE ESXi 5.0, Windows and also the oracle database and also duplicate it on the Tape Drive.

Note: As per our companys instruction we do not want to install netbackup client on the solaris operating system, We want to directly backup the LUN that is provided to Solaris operating. We have mounted that LUN on the Solaris operating system, and a script on solaris dump some data on the lun.

We will install Netbackup software on Windows server 2008.

Please let me whether Netabackup can Backup Netapp Ex2724 series SAn,

Do I Require any plugins for the same

Regards

Vivek

I need a solution

Hi,

I'm playing with Hyper-V running on SMB3 file shares. Although the VM's are running fine on SMB3, I'm not able to backup a VM that is running on a SMB3 share. Does Netbackup support this configuration? I can't find much info on this kind of backup.

My Hyper-V and file server are running on Windows Server 2012 R2 and my Netbackup environment is running on Windows Server 2008 R2.
I'm curruntly on Netbackup 7.6.0.4.

Can someone help my with this? Is this config supported by Netbackup?

Erwin

LTO 2 - LTO 6 Tape Duplication

I need a solution

Good Morning,

I'm new to Netbackup, please bare with me :-)

Essentially I need to transfer legacy data from LTO 2 tapes that were created on Netbackup 6.0 and get these duplicated onto LTO 6.

From what I have read this can be achieved, however I'm experiencing problems and struggling to understand why this isn't working.

I have prepared a single Windows server and installed Netbackup 6 with both LTO 2 and LTO 6 tape libraries attached. The plan is to import all the LTO 2 tapes that were created on the legacy Netbackup 6 platform, and 'Duplicate' them.

In order to test this first I have performed a local backup and attempted to 'Duplicate' the tape onto LTO 6. However, when I initiate the process it just sits there, 'Queued'. The Activity Monitor says Requesting and Reserving Resource A00000.....

I appreciate that Netbackup 6 is no longer in support, however I no choice in the matter and need to use this version until this piece of is complete.

Thanks and Regards,

Steve

Hello,

We have the following configuration in our netbackup enviroment:

Master:

eux390{root}# bpgetconfig -s eux390 -L|egrep 'Platform|Protocol|Version|Release'
NetBackup Client Platform = HP-UX-IA64, HP-UX11.31
NetBackup Client Protocol Level = 7.5.0.0.0.4
Version Name = 7.5
Version Number = 750000
Client OS/Release = HP-UX B.11.31

Client:

NetBackup Client Protocol Level = 7.0.0
Version Name = 7.0
Version Number = 700000
Client OS/Release = HP-UX B.11.31

We are taking raw backups for the clients but particularly the backup of the above mentioned client takes long to complete or I should say it doesn't get complete even the next backup job starts. I have mentioned the policy of the client below:

Hi,
Exchange GRT 2013 backup was configured recently.
GRT backups are taking a long time to get completed. It takes almost 12 hours for a successful completion.

Backups are written on VNX disk.

waited for full buffer 344334 times, delayed 2600184 times

There are times that jobs running in this media server get completed at 200MB/S

Full DB GRT backup is taking too much time compared to incremental brick level backup. Is there anyway to increase the speed of this GRT backup?

When the backup is attempted, it connects and then hangs:

06/05/2015 16:30:54 - Info bptm (pid=11360) start
06/05/2015 16:30:55 - Info bptm (pid=11360) using 128 data buffers
06/05/2015 16:30:55 - Info bptm (pid=11360) using 1048576 data buffer size
06/05/2015 16:30:56 - Info bptm (pid=11360) start backup
06/05/2015 16:30:59 - begin writing

Are there any other ports that need to be opened?  Anything else I am missing?

Thanks,

I need a solution

Hello,

Below listed is my environment,

SQL server 2012 , VM Client backed up by NBU SQL Agent , VM Master & media Servers 2012 , NBU versions 7.6.0.4

Clarification needed:

1. Can a SQL DB restore be iniated from NBU MS-SQL database extension GUI componenet installed on Client system by browsing images  ?

Reason ::   BAR GUI on some on some client systems takes for ever to open .

2. Can a SQl DB restore be iniated from BAR GUI on client system ?

Reason ::  NBU MS-SQL database extension GUI seems to have problem showing latest backed up images while browsing for restore on some of the client systems.  ex: the full backup from last night cannot be listed in NBU DB extension while browsing for images.

3. Can the SQL DB restore be iniated from Master server ?

Reason ::  I am not able to populate client name in BAR GUI on master server to initate restore

4. In default APP Backup schedule, if start , end days are given as sun 12:00 Am to sun 12:00 AM as shown in figure, would that allow SQL users to kick in manual or scheduled backups any time from SQL - NBU client ?

when i tried to backup on the library, netbackup console shows me " ROBOTHIC LIBRARY IS DOWN ON SERVER"

the master server runs on Red Hat  5.6

The OS detect the path of the library, but Netbackup doesn't detect it.

How to move Netbackup transfers to fiber interface?

I need a solution

Hello Symantec Community.

I need some help, a Vendor setup our netbackup 7.5 environment a while back and used the LAN connections for everything.

Noone cared for a while but now the backups we are doing are so big its starting to saturate the pipe and slow other stuff down.

In the meantime we have acquired a fiber switch and have it all hooked into the servers/netbackup/everything.

Where do i go to move the transfers from the LAN to the fiber interfaces???

I am pretty new to netbackup. sorry if its a simple question but i couldn't find a blatent answer by googling or poking around the interface myself.

Drive is listed in Device Manager and not by Netbackup

Hi,
Three media servers share 5 tape drives from a tape library.
Operating System from three servers are listing out all 5 tape drives.

However, only one media server is showing all the 5 drives in NBU. Either tpautoconf -t or scan -tape.
Other media servers are showing only 4 tape drives.

HBA manager on both these servers show all 5 tape drives, however IBM ITDT tool doesn't.
All ghost devices are cleared as well.

Is there a problem at SCSI layer? Will scsi inquiry suggest something?

What could possibly be the problem?

Hi All,

I knows about the vmware license, licensing netbackup and app or database agent per host or ESX with Enterprise Client tier X (tiering with amount of processor socket).

How about if all guest house in the ESX use the Standart Client (no tiering).

My question what tiering if We use app or database agent in the guest house ?. (following the amount of processor socket the media server or the ESX server).

Unable to See Exchange Backup since moving to DAG

I need a solution

I am running Exchange server 2013 CU 8 on Windows 2012 R2 and have been backing it up using Netbackup 7.5.0.7 on Windows 2008R2 using a VMware Policy with MS EXchange database option.

Since 27th May we have implemented a DAG and introduced passive mailbox database copies on another server.

Now despite the backups completing successfully, the snapshot, the application state capture step and the actual backup. I am no longer able to find these backups when I try to browse for them. So unfortunately I am unable to recover any mailboxes since May 27 when the DAG was introduced.

Please if anyone has any ideas as to how I can recall these backups, they will be most gratefully welcome.

Or are these backups gone forever, never to be seen again?
