Please guide to perform the netbackup catalog recovery to an alternate location (on the same master server). The requirement is to ensure the catalog backups are useful in case of any corruption in Netbackup.
after testing the recovery , roll back the netbackup to original location.

Need help on Netbackup 6.5

This is my first post in this forum also I am new to Netbackup admin role.
I need your help in troubleshooting netbackup client server 6.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 (Tikanga).
We have NBU master server 7.1.0.4 on AIX 6.5 but this client have only NBU 6.5 in it and also it seems we cannot upgrade the NBU client version.
I am having problem in connecting with this client, can you please let me know how to start the services on NBU 6.5. generally I use "netbackup start" and "netbackup stop" to bounce the services but not sure how to do it in NBU 6.5.
Can some one please help in this.

How can they utilized the whole 50TB if only one disk pool can be configured?

Troubleshoot slow backups

Hi
I have an AIX netbackup envt with db2 backups some which are san media servers and others just clients.
I wnat to check logs which i can look at and also tuning parameters in order to try and improve backup speed.
From Media server i know i can check teh bptm logs. Any other logs that will provide insight and what are the tuning parameters I can look into ?.

manual duplicate NDMP data from VTL to Tape Library
I need a solution
Hi All,
User ask me to backup data from NDMP device/filer to VTL with Local NDMP topology. Then next he ask me to manually duplicate the Data on VTL to Tape Library that also have Local NDMP topology. As Netbackup only allow duplicate that connected with same media server, is that mean the Data from VTL read by NDMP device/filer then write it to Tape Library? As i know if we use SLP we can duplicate it to STU that connected to another Media Server which in this case a Windows Netbackup Media Server.
Anyone can explain?

Backup host : windows 2003 R2, Netbackup 7.5.0.6 , virtual machine.
transport mode NBD
I newly configured snapshot backup for vmware, it is failing continuesly with error code 6,
ERR - Error opening the snapshot disks using given transport mode: Status 23

Hello - am tasked to do some house cleaning by deleting volume pools no longer in use in my environment. Before then, I would like to confirm this pools are not currently listed in either active SLPs & POLICIES. The delima here is that, I have close to 300 backup policies & 32 SLPs. So traditional manual check on activity monitor seems not feasible.
My question now is ,can any one please help with commands or OPScenter query to check which of these volume pools are still listed in these policy & in use and which are not?

Snapvault failing through Replication Director Netbackup 7.6.0.1

I have Netbackup Replication director for Virtual Machine. Below is workflow for hourly backup :
Snapshot --> Snapmirror (Replication with mirrored retention)---> Snapvault
Replication Job fails with status code 34 or 174
the snapvault replication gets cancelled by the backup service account, I can see these through DFM Server.
Snapvault when run manually through netapp is successful.
Can any one help me with this?

Adding Media Server

Hi All,
Currently our customer will add a new media server on their NBU Master server, the problem is that, when they use the Device Config Wizard on the master server, the new media server cant be seen on the Device Config Wizard. They already added the new media server on the /etc/hosts of NBU Master Server.
What else do we need to config inorder that we can see the new media on the device wizard?

Netbackup 7.6.0.2 SQL 2012 cluster database restore
I need a solution
We have rebuilt our Windows 2012 servers hosting SQL 2012 server. SQL has been installed and configured on cluster and is now online. Disk resources are also configured on the cluster and accessible to the server. When we tried to restore SQL database with the MOVE option to a diffrerent location, we got this error:
DBMS MSG - ODBC return code <-1>, SQL State <37000>, SQL Message <5184><[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot use file 'T:\SQLData\Data\SQLt01d01.mdf' for clustered server. Only formatted files on which the cluster resource of the server has a dependency can be used. Either the disk resource containing the file is not present in the cluster group or the cluster resource of the Sql Server does not have a dependency on it.>.
DBMS MSG - SQL Message <3156><[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]File 'SQLtDMD01d01' cannot be restored to 'T:\SQLData\Data\SQLt01d01.mdf'. Use WITH MOVE to identify a valid location for the file.>

Media Server can't be detected

Hi,
Client is having a problem adding a media server.
OS is RedHat 6.3.
Netbackup client is already installed on NBUMedia hosts and is updated as media server client.
Unable to see the new Media Server on NBU Cloud master server.
For the installation, we already have installed the Netbackup Client on the hosts, zone the Tape Library. BTW, client used the Quantum Scalar i500 tape drives attached to the NBUMedia hosts, is there a software needed to install or configure Quantum Tape Lib to the hosts?

ERR - Error in CoCreateInstance: 0x80040154

So we got, Linux Master server using NBU 7.6.0.1
Appliance 5220 acting as media server in a remote location (client site)
And in the same lan this server: Windows 2008 R2 64bit with SQL 2000 on it :(
In the"Symantec NetBackup ™ 7.x Database and Application Agent Compatibility List" I can see that
SQL 2000 is supported since 7.0 and it doesnt say that in >7.0 is off support.So basicly 7.6.0.1 support sql 2000.

But it doesnt fix the issue.
P.S. No reboot for the sql server after .dll register, doesnt say it`s necessary in the tech note.
We will try this too: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH480... only 1st hotfix, because we have SQL 200 SP3 not 4.

What do you think It can be?

Unable to mount tape in TLD
I need a solution
Hi all,
I've built a 2003 server with Netbackup 6 installed. When trying to do anything with the tape, such as erase or start a backup, I get an error and the drive goes down. When starting a job I can hear the tape loading up etc, then it just sits there for about 5mins saying mounting. I know there's nothing wrong with the TLD because I've used it on another server where I've been performing similar tests with the same software versions. I've compared both server configs however I can't spot anything out the ordinary.
The TLD is an HP MSL 2024 with HCART3 defined in the config. I'm using an LTO2 tape with a barcode, which has been read and correctly inventoried.

Netbackup KMS security setting
I need a solution
We are facing some auditing issue on Netbackup KMS. I hope that anyone would like to help
Except using passphrase to regenerate those KMS_HMKF.dat, KMS_KPKF.dat and KMS_DATA.dat file,
1)How to prevent/protect those KMS files was accessed / copied by someone especially for administrators.
Default those 3 files were granted local system with Full permission and local administrators group with Modify and special permission
Can i aborted administrators to access those files ? any impact behind.
