KMS configuration

I need a solution

hi,

I have already configured my Key management Service on my netbackup server.

using the following steps on this site:

When am launching my backup, the system is freezing the media and requesting for another tape. I changed two tapes but the problem remains the same.

Please find logs:

Hi Team, 
 
after recovery of our master server, now we are facing many failure, so I dicided to prepare a report how it was below & after the recovery, 
 
could you help me to prepare such report. we do have Ops certer, if we need if any of below can be fatched from there.
 
I need below
 
1) top 50 failure, regular occurance how many time a client failed in last 2 months
 
2) failure/error media server wise
 
3) top 20 biggest file system backups - LAN backups.
 
4) each media server load
 
5) no. of client having more then 1 TB backup size
 
6) long running backups
 
7) how much we are backing up daily & weekly full & one month consolidated size
 
8) daily backup size of platinum server 
 
9) weekly full backup size of platinum servers
 
10) daily/weekly/monthly  fill rate of pure disk
 
11) daily/weekly/monthly tape utilization report.

Hello,

Running Symantec Netbackup 7.5.0.6 on windows server 2008 R2 SP1.
Moreover, we are using SLP for backup and duplicate to a different storage units.

Yesterday, I got a duplicate job that failed with error 84, so I run the command:"bpimagelist -backupid" to check which copics the specific image backup is finished successfully and I got the following results:

how to move/import backup images between masters servers

Hello

We are running two environments of Symantec Netbackup 7.5.0.6 on windows server 2008 R2 SP1.

Each environment is contained on different master and medias servers, but they have a network connection shared between them.

Sometimes, I need to restore from a certain enviroment to the other one. In order to perform this request I usually used to create a new disk pool on the destination enviroment that is actually the same disk on the source enviroment. Then, I used to copy the following directory from the source enviroment :

installation_path\veritas\netbackup\db\images\client_name

that includes information of the backup.

To the destination evniroment, also the same path:

installation_path\veritas\netbackup\images\source_client_name.

eventually, after finishing all these steps I tried to look for the images on the catalog on the destination master server and I could see the source_client_images and start the restore.

Unfortunatly, I tried to do this again but its not working me anymore.

Please advise.

Windows 2008 R2 Media Server is not Detecting Dell Robot

Hello All,

I am facing a Problem in my NB environment. One of my windows 2008 R2 media server is not detecting Dell PTL.

Scan -changer giving me no output neither tpautoconf -r .

However tpautoconf -t is showing all tape drives. We have reinstated the OS too still PTL is not visible.Need technical help with steps to perform.

Issue:-Some actions done on Media Server:

-          Presenting on LUN on the four HBA ports not used by the drivers of the library,

-          This LUN was visible on the height path,

-          So the MPIO (Microsoft) tools has been activated,

-          Then a reboot was required, reboot done and the LUN was visible only once,

-          After that all the drive was still available but the library was not accessible.

Once the problem come we have deactivated the MPIO  feature and unmapped the LUN. But unfortunately the library still not visible.

The O/P of Scan -Changer is empty.

We have Reinstall the OS and Netbackup too.But the same issue.

Can any one help me in this.Its really very urgent and a Big issue for us.

restore VM in DR site using AIR

Any body explain me please
 
1) Windows 2008 R2 standards and netbackup 7.5.0.6
 
2) My envirment is primary and DR site identical except IP and host name master, media server and tape library
 
3) MSDP disk pool
 
4) due to the band with limitation only catalog images can replicate to the DR site (NO normal backup data due to band width limitation).
 
5) My plan is physically caring the normal data tapes in to the DR site in a disaster situation.since tapes are already in off-site after backup.
 
I need to restore the VMware virtual machine in the DR site which are currently in primary site. Please explain step by step how to do this.

Remove Media Server in Master Server Netbackup

Hello everyone,
 
I have a big problem that I need to remove my media server from the master server of my Netbackup Appliance 5220.
 
I checked and saw a TECH decomission would remove via command line and move all the images if you have to master.
In my case I have the NetBackup Appliance and extensor disk not use tapes.
I have nothing to transfer the media to the Master.
 
What I need to do is remove everything that has reference of my media because I will not have.
 
When I try to remove Disk Pools, Media Server, it does not remove, it just gives the error that can not be removed "Unknown exception message (Status 193)".
 
Outside the tech below I consulted someone would know something else I need to do to remove?

In NBU 6.X, first the vnetd port needs to be open.Now if it is open then it concts the vnetd service which passes the connection to bpcd service through bpcd port which starts bpcd process?Am i correct on this?

Please reply on the above query.If anything can be added on this.

Backup Exchange, SQL, Active Directory with VMWARE

What is the best practice to backup an Exchange server or a SQL or even Domain controller (AD).

Actualy I'm backup them with VMWARE (Flashbackup-Windows) policies.

 

Someone told me that the Flashbackup-Windows isnt supported by Microsoft for Exchange, SQL etc. and that we should install the NB Agent instead to backup the VMDK (Snaphot) block level.

 

I'm using Netbackup 7.5.0.5

NBU Java Admin Console

I need a solution

I run the Java Admin Console from my local machine.  I don't use the Windows Admin Console or jnbSA.  I've noticed that when there is no activity (backups/duplications/restores) if I click on any completed job, it comes up blank.  The console then gives me some sort of timeout error and I have to hit the refresh button.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I've seen it in 6.5.x, 7.0 and now 7.5.0.6.  As long as backups or any other activity is happening Activity Monitor is fine.

Dropped an LTO tape. What is the recommended or best practice ?

I need a solution

Dropped an LTO tape.  What is the recommended or best practice for this?  After I verify it is not broken via a visual inspection what do other admins do?  I heard that I need to duplicate the tape and then discard the dropped one?   Re-tension the tape (the person was not familiar with LTO not needing this),

I am wondering what Symantec recommends or what the other backup admins out there do.

MSDP crcontrol seem to hang, how to see if MSDP is busy internally ?

Hello

After an unplanned shutdown of the media servers running the MSDP

We some times see

C:\Program Files\Veritas\pdde>crcontrol --queueinfo

Just not answering and no entries in the spad and spoold log

Wondered if there was another place to see if the MSDP was running some internal job

Know I can solve it by restarting the spad & spoold processes, but don't want to interrupt any internal jobs

 

Systems:

NetBackup 7.5.0.5 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1

Netbackup BMR restoration failed

I need a solution

Master server: Windows 2008 R2

BMR Source Client - (windows 2008 R2) - virtual machine - vmware

Destination -  another virtual machine on the same ESXi server

 

The backup completed successfully.

I have created a SRT iso image. ( No DHCP -- manually i assigned IP for the client)

I have discovered the new VM and prepare for restore.

 

While restoring in the client i am getting the following error.

The restore has stopped due to the following error: unable to configure network 

it is stopping at  setting TCP/IP. and not proceding further

 

Also in the BMR tasks the "prepare to discover and prepare to restore" tasks are queued

I need a solution

Dear all,

I have a zfs file sytem and when i backup it to tape. I get the disk full alert from monitor server. I would like to know can I control the space used by netbackup when i backup and can i change to another location in solaris platform? What's schema do netbackup apply when backup. e.g when I backup D drive in windows while I install Netbackup at C drive. It will use space from C or D drive. And how about in UNIX platform?
