i have storageTEK SL150 tape library contains one HP ulterum 5 tape drive conncted to a T-5 Sparc server with solaris 10 .. the server can see the tape drive and the medum changer robot.. but the netbackup can see only the tape drive as a stand alone tape drive ...

On the same server have configured type of SAP Online/redo log/ offline backup.
Whenever I trying to take backup SAP online and redo log it is happening successfully completed.
But SAP offline backup failed with above mention servers.

just updated my workstation from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and trying to install the management console (both Java and the regular Windows version) of NBU. halfway thru the installation it would abort saying there is a pending reboot? so i rebooted. still getting the same message.
is there a patch to make it work or i have to upgrade version?

i have a understanding question to backup the vSphere clients.
My invorement is: virual Machine with Master/media Server v 7.6.0.2 (Sles 11) to backup Virtaul infrastructure, the most Jobs run without error, but when the mediaserver mapping the VMDK ("DISK") file to backing up, sometimes hang the vmdk`s on the media and on the next run can´t backing up thies one guest system and on the vSphere Client get error: need to be consolidated.
i can remove the Disks from the Media Server on the vSphere client, but there must be an option or possibility to remove mappend disks with netbackup command or os side?

I'm in the process of setting up VMware backups but the transfer rates using nbd are very very slow. The media server and ESX servers each use single 1GB NIC's and even with multiple backups going across multiple ESX server's the NIC on the media server is frequently below 1% utilized. Occasionally the utilization in Windows Task Manager for the network interface will look like a square wave bouncing between 0% and 50% utilization. There are points where it can get close to 100% utilization with 8 going at once but even with 8 active backups it is frequently below 30-50%.
I don't think it is a problem with the network itself as normal client backups do not have a problem maxing out the NIC. I tried the suggestion in TECH191183 to disable disk caching in vxDiskLib.ini but that did not seem to have any affect. The ESX servers are v5.5. There are multiple VMKernel ports on the ESX servers but backups are the only one using this NIC. I've scheduled to update Netbackup 7.6.0.2 early next week to see if that helps speed things up. I've included OS and Netbackup version info below. If more info is needed please let me know.

1) We are taking NDMp backup with VBB option on one location.Below is the path configured in the policy.

Regarding deduplication, I found two options 1)Policies(disable client side deduplication) 2)Client attributes(host properties).
How does this both options work together?
If I disable it at policy level, then it wont consider client attributes or it will do media server deduplication?
When I see slow backups sometimes I will change client attribute to "always use media server" and sometimes to "prefer client side deduplication", viceversa and backups will run fast. How to decide which client is good for "media server deduplication" and which is good for "client side deduplication"?

Everything was ok until the tape library was fixed after hard crash.
I use HP storageworks tool to test drive and work well. But do the backup job via NBU it is very very slow( 1 file 3.5GB 5hours).
When the job was running, the tape library screen show " driver idle" .
Any advices except upgrade?
