We were earlier facing problem with Error 13 & Error 84 in our enviourment when we had master server 7.5.0.5 and same client but after EEB patch relased error 84 got fixed and we use to fix a error 13 problem by deleting the track files (netbackup acclerator) it.Now we have upgraded our systems to 7.5.0.6 both clients and master server and still getting error 13.

I am trying to duplicate a backup image from Disk Storage Unit to Tape but when I right click on the backup image under Catalog Search and right on it , I found Duplicate option is disabled/grayed

We have SQL server on Windows 2008 (not R2) and SQLserver 2008 running, NetBackup is version 7.5.0.4. We did test restore after backup before successfully. Now when we tried to restore, we always encounterd a failure.

Any thoughts on this and how would we find out what files have been changed?
Some Solaris client hosts that use the old file system structure (UFS) need to become ZFS. We plan on restoring the files into the new host. We thought that an initial restore could be done first then during the actual change over to minimize the downtime only files that changed would be restored.

Background:
We have a Netbackup Server 7.5.0.4
Master Server :
Server 2008 R2 64bit ,which director connect to a Tape Driver
Media Server 1:
Drive: IBM.ULT3580-TD4.000
Drive Type:HCART3
Robot Type:TLD
(use SAN Tunnel to backup)
Both of all backup job is success on SAN Tunnel.
Issue:
When I setup a new media server (recorder-nas), and setup the tape driver (use device configuration wizard).
it just can detected the tape drive ,but the robot can be detected.
Could you let me know , what wrong ?
Can I configure MSDP server on VCS for redandancy?
How about the following each case?
- Master+Media+MSDP are all in one server..
- Media+MSDP are in one server but separated from Master server.

if my backup selection is "All Local Drives" for a Windows machine and some files weren't backup due to being open or in use, on restore time can i still successfully restore some files off of that backup policy?
Hello! Do Symantec plans in future implement also incremental backups merging feature? I know, now I can use synthetic backup, but it wastes too much space compared with incrementals merge feature.

After struggling with the Netbackup Consistency Check, i got the wanted result, which is the famous message :
NBCC did not detect any NetBackup catalog inconsistencies.
But now, when i lauch the upgrade, from the Netbackup DVD, it fails with the attached log file.
It just says that some actions exit with state 1, which means that there's an error somewhere.
And then it starts rolling back.
I am asking for help to solve that problem please.

Sorry, but I cant find place where I can see how much disk space every incremental point uses and what files are backed up with every incremental. In Backup-Restore window it displays only sum of all files size and also cant see what files are backed up with every incrementa. Also should be good to see deduplication rate.

The Library is a SL500 with 4 * LTO4 drives.
Mulitiplexing is set to 6
Reduce fragment size to 1048575
The NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS = 32
The SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS = 262144

Good day, I'm very new w/ NetBackup and Red Hat Linux. The company i'm working right now wants to implement a test environment for NetBackup, so far i have succesfully installed NetBackup 7.5 on the Redhat linux 6 x86_64 server and I have also attached the iscsi disk storage device on it. But when i run the NetBackup device configuration wizard, it could not detect the attached iscsi disk storage device. Is there a configuration somewhere i'm missing? because I thought it is automatically detected by NetBackup.

I am in desperate need of some assitance configuring Oracle Database backups and i would really value your suggestions and input.
Problem:
We have two Oracle Database servers running on HP-UX with multiple database instances running on them, we shall call them node6 and node7.
Each servers houses approximately 60-70 small databases ranging from 2GB to about 80GB in size.
The problem is not the size but rather the amount of database instances, this involves a backup script for each database instance, which is becoming a nightmare to setup firstly and then to get backed up. We have written a script that copies and edits the Netbackup RMAN template into individual scripts that get added into Netbackup.
We have configured a policy per server and then added all of the scripts into the policies but in my eyes this is rather inefficient and cumbersome, as the backup will backup each DB one by one which takes over 24 hours, the other option we tried but was even worse was a policy per script, HORRIBLE idea.
So my question is, (and yes i have googled to the point of raw fingers) to find a solution similar to the Microsoft SQL Agent backups where you can have one script and just specify $ALL to backup any added or removed database from the server, is there any similar way to do this with Oracle?
I have also looked through the Netbackup for Oracle guide but cannot find anything unless i am missing it.
I have come across a post detailing the use of a file called db_channels which allows you to specify RMAN to use a channel per Database in the script but was wondering if anyone has tried this or knows of a way.

Hi Team, I am not getting the concept of Media ID Generation options.
1. I have a Media/Volume with a barcode of 8 Character. Requirement is Media ID to be equal to Media Barcode. How to come by this.
2. Is NB 7.5 will supports only media ID of 6-Chars.
3. What are the different type of rule we can create.
4. What are the function of # and : in this rule naming. How to use this.

everytime i load a new cartridge, it goes to "netbackup" pool. so what happens is if one of my policies require a cartridge, it does an error 96 because there is none in "scratch" pool. i would have to remember to manual move the new cartridges to the "scratch" pool.
i checked in master server using "/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmpool -list_scratch" and it is set to "scratch". still new tape cartridges go to "netbackup".
how then to force new tape cartridges to go to "scratch" pool by default?

Then i try to scan tape drive's form master server but the drives are not detecting.
