Getting Status 130 system error during Exchange 2010 GRT backup

I need a solution

During a Full Exchange 2010 GRT backup on the passive node in a DAG, the Microsoft Exchange Replica Writer went into a "Retryable Error" state causing the status 130. We will address this issue with MS to fix that problem.

What I could use assistance with from the Symantec forum is the following:

1. What NBU log files on the passive node do I need to setup in order to capture why the backup is failing? right now I have bpfis created on the Exchange 2010 passive client (where the passive database is located and where the backup is performed)

2. Why would our nightly Full Non-GRT still complete successfully without any errors as opposed to the GRT?

 

Environment:

NetBackup 7.5.0.6 (Master, Media and all Exchange clients)
Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Enterprise x64
Exchange 2010 SP3

Shadow Copy Components backup of DFSR data fails on Windows 2008 R2 Netbackup Client.

Environment Details:

Master Server: AIX 6.1, NetBackup 7.5.0.5

Client: Windows 2008 R2, Clustered, NetBackup 7.5.0.5

Issue:

Backup of DFSR data from Windows 2008 R2 client failed with error 69.

"Unable to backup System State or Shadow Copy. Please check the state of VSS and associated Writers.INF - EXIT STATUS 69: invalid filelist specification"

"vssadmin list writers" from client report all writers as "Stable" and "No Error".

No application events related to VSS on Cleint

Logs from Client report that:

"WRN - Can't open file: Shadow copy components ..... Win32 3: The system can not find the path specified."

The backup has been tested with dedicated policy and only DFSR folder to avoid multiple streams but result was same failure.

The issue is more related to VSS and Microsoft, but any ideas to proceed will be helpful and appreciated.

Admin console opening in Backup Archive and Restore

Netbackup 7.5.0.4 master server Solaris 10x86, Unix media server Solaris 10, Windows media server Windows 2008R2.  After power failure and restart of master and media servers, Admin console starts in Backup Archive and Restore on master server and Unix media server.  Admin console starts normally on Windows media server.  Have stopped and restarted Netbackup processes on master server and Unix media server.  auth.conf file is OK.

MSDP deduplication database relocation

Hi,

 

To start with we are using Netbackup 7.5.05 on Linux server, We have one server which is master and media.

We have MSDP on this server configured, /Storage is the filesystem we use for MSDP storage, and its size is 64TB which is MAX.

Below is statements from documents:

"For performance optimization, Symantec recommends that you use a separate disk, volume, partition, or spindle for the deduplication database.

You cannot change the paths after NetBackup configures the deduplication storage server. Therefore, carefully decide during the planning phase where and how you want the deduplicated backup data stored."

We have not used seperate disk, volume, partition, or spindle for the deduplication database and we let everything to be on same file system /Storage, Now I feel like its better to have it on sepearte file system as I am seeing backups writing to it are getting slow when queue processing is running,I doubt its now not possible.

Please let me know if there is a way I can move my /Storage/databases(deduplication database) to other file system.

After upgraded Netbackup Master Svr to 7.5.0.5, NBSL hijack memory in all Media and Master

Hi,

 

After upgraded Netbackup Master Svr to 7.5.0.5, all media server and client still in 7.0.

 

 NBSL hijacked memory in all Media servers and Master servers.

 

Any fix ?

Catalog backup and restore test

Hi,

I test run catalog backup and it completed succesfully.
When I tried, recover the catalogs it says error, failed to load DR image /backup/drfile/ (20)

The disaster recovery files are there in /backup/drfile

-rw------- 1 root root 2054 Sep 12 21:11 CatalogBackup_1378995069_FULL

Are there any missed step I need to follow?

unable to delete ndmp host

I need a solution

Hi all,

I am actually trying to rename my new ndmp hostname.

For that i have deleted all the backup image taken from the old device nad also deleted the storage device created.

I have rename the cifs server name in EMC VNX box and readded to domain.

Now that i am unable to remove the old name from credentials--> host hosts.

It says "unable to remove ndmp host from device configuration" emm server failed to process the request"

earliar i had tried to move all image to another server, but was not able to so i deleted all images

also i am unable to add with the new ndmp hostname. When i create with global credential it say "unable to set global credentails for this ndmp host emm server failed to process the request"

when i create with use the following credential it says " unable to set filer wide credentails credentails already exists"

 

also when i tryto add the ndmp host using nbemmcmd it says  host already exists in emm database

 

Can any pls help me......

Our internal team is planning  to move servers behind firewall. Applications will be access controlled with the application specific ports. Kindly helps us with specific ports required for netbackup. I have list of following ports 1556,13724,13782,1556,2821,4032,10102,10082,443,53,13722,13783,10000. kindly help whether any additional ports are required ??

Also whether any additional settings are required on master server  and client after implementing firewall

 

Currenty in port ranges attribute (master server )we have selected  "use random port assignements"

Robot de sauveagrde Dell TL4000 avec deux tete de lecture

Version NetBackup 7.5

OS: Windows standart 2008 R2

 

- une fois un travail de sauvegarde ce lance une tete serait en mode Down plus cette derniere n'excute aucun travail de sauvegarde  , est ce qu'il ya un paramétrage au niveau du robot ou bien la tete de lecture

pour information ; cette tete est récément placé dans le robot et on arrive pas a lancé des sauvegardes sur elle

Identifying Netbackup Image in Catalogue for a particular Media Server/Client

Hello Honourable House,

I have a Netbackup an old Netbackup 7.0.1 domain which I have is not on the my network again but running currently.

I have to go to the server directly and connect to the console whenver I need an information in the domain.I have backup with infinity retention taken in this domain.

I am running my backup environment on a 7.5.0.5 plartform now (a different domain with different hardware) but was installed with the same hostname as the 

formar 7.0.21 domain.

Actually we suggested to upgrade the 7.0.1 to 7.5.0.5 then but management says we must install a new 7.5.0.5 and do a cutover by directing all our media servers and clients .Already the 7.5.0.5 has the same hostname as the 7.0.1 ,so we have to isolate the 7.0.1 from network and start twith full backups on the 7.5.0.5 domain.

 

Now , a customer needs a backup data with an infinite retention in the   7.0.1 domain.

My major challenge is that I cannot launch NBU JAVA GUI when I connect through the console of the server of the 7.0.1 domain so that I can use BAR to get this images and  the tapes ,then import them in the 7.5.0.5 domain and then restore the data.

However, all netbackup processes and services are running.I can run available media scripts to get expired media,bpps etc.but cannot launch JAVA GUI .

Is there a command to run querry all infinite images for a particular client but best is to be able to launch the NBU ADMIN CONSOLE and all will be fine.

Can I get help to be able to launch the Admin Console.

 

NB:

-I am running the scripts /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/jnbSA 

-No DNS  now and I am using host files

 

I need a help on this as this customer is on my neck

Want to run admincmd commands from NetBackup client on Linux

Hi,

I am using Linux platform for running Netbackup 7.0 tool. I have installed Netbackup server on one machine & client on another machine.

I need to run some of the commands like 'bperror' from admincmd folder on client machine as my script is containing such  commands.

I know that admincmd folder is present only on server, not on client.

But I can achieve this on windows machine by installing "Remote Administration Console" on windows client. Then I am successfully able to execute same set of commands from windows machine.

I need to install same set of commands from Linux client as well.

Please let me know how to achieve this? Also, is there any option to install "Remote Administration Console" on linux client. Because linux master server installer does not contain any option to install this.

SLP_Multiple_Lifecycle replication job???

After upgrading to 7.5.0.6 i started noticing a "SLP_Multiple_Lifecycle" job kick off that usually contains around 50 - 100 images and takes forever to replicate offsite.  I have 6 slps (3 for production, 3 for model (monthly, weekly, daily)) that have been inplace since I setup the system 4 years ago and they have always kicked off in a pretty decent time frame.   Usually directly after a collection of jobs run. 

Now with this multiple lifecycle it contains client that backed up 12 hours earlier and it kicks off directly after my catalog backup around 8:15am every day (catalog starts at 8am)???  Then the policy will run for almost 5 hours on most days transferring 2gb with speeds lingering around 78kb.  The WAN link is a 200mb line and i have seen 5 and 6 gigs of data transfer within 30 minutes on other replication jobs from the same evening.

The majority of the images are from sql jobs but standard file server backups are mixed in as well.  I thought this could be caused because the clients were running 7.5.0.6 but i have rolled back several of them and they still are replicating inside of the multiple lifecycle job.

I've been trying to figure this out for several months now and i just cant make any connection as to why these images wait so long before replicating and why they run so slow.

log setting for unified logging are set to the lowest level I have a Solaris san based media server that a nic on the backup LAN, the server is configured with another NIC that pings the NIC on the backup LAN to check for a heartbeat. However this constantly produces a entry in the NBSL log on the master at times filling the disk capacity on the filesystem, so I have to manually delete logs via vxlogmr.

For example

the nic on the backup lan is as  deltauatdatg01.be.tomorrow.com

the nic used to check for a heartbeat is known as deltauatdatg01-aggr1

I have check EMM and it is correct there is a entry for deltauatdatg01.be.tomorrow.com

Master server is 7.5.0.5

San based media server is 7.0 Soon to be upgraded to 7.5.0.5

The error be is constantly reocurring and fill up the log and eventually filling up the file system and bringing down Netbackup.

Auto-Eject tapes that arent expired Media

I need a solution

Without using a 3rd party tool (or perhaps with), is there a way, where as soon as I place tapes in the library, and run an Inventory, that NetBackup will read the tapes, and anything that is NOT expired/scratch, automatically export to the MAP(media access portal)

 

Example:

 

I load 30 tapes into the library,

27 have expired rentention , and are scratch

3 were written to last week, and have 28 days to go.

Netbackup does inventory of Robot, and then kicks back out the 3 tapes to the MAP

BMR support for GPT Partitions

we are using netbackup 7.5 for BMR Restore of windows based servers, job partially done but client not appearing under BMR Client list and then after some digging i found that said server is using GPT, so i just want to know is there any thing that support or alternet solution for GPT and i didnt found any relaible resource that have prove Netbackup is not supporting GPT...... please help me out

How to restore data to another master server.

original ：there is a master server & media server ,the name  is A and the OS is AIX。The client is B and the os is AIX too.

 

Destination：the master server & media server is C, the OS is AIX.

 

Now I want to restore B to C and the catalog of the C is not expired.I don't want to restore catalog from the tape.so can you help how to archive this?

status 196 but window has just opened

I need a solution

Hi, I have jobs failing with status 196, but the windos has just opened.....

Environment 7.5.0.4 on master, media and client servers.

I have a policy with 35 2003/2008 servers in it with Backup Selections set to ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES (no New Stream directive set) with a schedule from 18:00 - 06:00, 2 weeks retention and 13 hours frequency.

All jobs in the policy fail 1 minute after the backup window openen with the same error;
